Where Every Journey Became a Promise
It all began with one little boy.
More than three decades ago, Dr. Kabalo, founder of AGAMA Tours, was working as a veterinary surgeon and naturalist when he was called to a beautiful village (Karatu) to perform surgery on a cow at an orphanage.
While there, he noticed a young boy quietly caring for the animals—cows, sheep and goats.
His name was Tony.
He was 13.
Dr. Kabalo asked him what he dreamed of becoming.
“A veterinary doctor,” Tony replied.
Then came the question that changed everything.
“Aren’t you supposed to be at school?”
Tony explained that he was supposed to be there. But his family could afford only one school uniform. So he and his brother shared it.
One brother attended school in the morning.
The other waited for him to return at lunchtime, took the uniform, and went to school for the afternoon session.
Tony was missing much of his education—not because he lacked ambition, but because he lacked something as simple as a second uniform.
Dr. Kabalo helped Tony with a school uniform and essential supplies.
And in that moment, he saw something much bigger than one child's need.
He saw the possibility of a bridge.
A bridge between vulnerable children with extraordinary dreams and travelers from around the world with generous hearts.
That bridge became AGAMA Charity.
“We find children with extraordinary dreams, remove the barriers standing in their way, and walk beside them toward those dreams.”
That connects directly back to Tony.
Dr. Kabalo didn't simply give Tony a uniform.
He gave a 13-year-old boy the chance to continue pursuing his dream of becoming a veterinary doctor.
That is the emotional DNA of AGAMA CHARITY
A Safari Became More Than a Journey
AGAMA had already begun taking travelers into the wild heart of Tanzania—the endless Serengeti plains, the ancient Ngorongoro landscape and the places where wildlife and people exist side by side.
But Tony changed the way we understood travel.
We began to ask:
If a safari can create unforgettable memories for a traveler, can it also create a better future for a child?
We believed it could.
And so a simple act of kindness became a lasting promise.
ONE SAFARI. ONE CHILD. ONE FUTURE.
Today, our philosophy remains beautifully simple:
For every safari sold, we help send a child to school.
Because education is more than a classroom.
It is confidence.
It is opportunity.
It is the freedom to dream.
Tony dreamed of becoming a veterinary doctor.
And somewhere, another child is dreaming too.
Your Journey Can Become Part of Someone Else's
When you travel with AGAMA, you come to Tanzania seeking extraordinary moments—the roar of a lion at dawn, elephants beneath ancient baobabs, the Great Migration moving across the plains, the mist of Ngorongoro and the warmth of Tanzanian culture.
But your journey can leave something behind.
A uniform.
A schoolbook.
A classroom.
A chance.
A future.
You are not simply visiting Tanzania.
You are becoming part of its story.
Because Tanzania has given us its wild places, its wildlife, its people and its inspiration.
And we believe the most meaningful journeys are those that give something back.
WHERE EVERY SAFARI SENDS A CHILD TO SCHOOL.
AGAMA Charity
Turning journeys into opportunity.
Turning travel into hope.
Building brighter futures, one child at a time.
